Communication and Language
The development of children's spoken language underpins all seven areas of learning and is the strongest indicator of future success. Children's back-and-forth interactions from an early age form the foundation for language and cognitive development. We know that rich, meaningful conversations throughout each day help children flourish. Our skilled practitioners are highly trained to support children's communication and language by creating communication-friendly environments and conducting early intervention assessments, such as WellComm, to identify needs promptly. We understand that many children benefit from visual communication methods, which is why we implement Signalong (sign language) for all children and provide visual supports, including “now and next” boards and objects of reference, to help children understand and express themselves more confidently.
Authentic Experiences
Children are natural explorers who thrive through hands-on, immersive play experiences that engage all their senses. We understand that meaningful learning occurs when children can touch, explore, investigate, and discover the world around them through active engagement. We provide trips into our local community, hands-on experiences with authentic materials, and opportunities for children to become active members of their surroundings. Children explore real-life objects that reflect the world they see around them and take part in activities such as shopping for fresh produce at local supermarkets and baking with real ingredients they can touch, smell, and taste.
Instilling Independence
We believe in nurturing confident, self-assured children who can meet their own needs and have a voice in their learning. Independence isn’t about leaving children to manage alone, but about providing the right balance of support and encouragement so they can develop the skills and confidence to try new things, express their needs, make choices, and take pride in their achievements. We promote independence through everyday experiences such as serving their own snacks, choosing their own activities, and managing their personal care , all with positive modelling and gentle guidance.
